Canada’s only all-season public road to cross the Arctic Circle, the Dempster Highway, is 860 km of unpaved road that traverses some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet. It starts near Dawson City and heads due north to Inuvik in the Northwest Territories. Dramatic tundra landscapes, mountain ranges and abundant wildlife are all part of the Dempster experience.
As of November 17, 2017, the Dempster has been extended to the quaint hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk found on the shores of the Beaufort Sea. With an additional 120 km of gravel highway to ride in order to reach the Arctic Ocean, only the brave will dare to ride the highway of the tundra.
Day 1 – Upon your arrival in Dawson City, you will join our staff at our welcome dinner followed by accommodations at a historical hotel in downtown Dawson City.
Day 2 – The ride begins in Dawson City with a short trip to the Dempster Corner where this unpaved, two-lane highway begins. There is a motel, restaurant and some services at this busy half way point. Total day distance: 406km.
Day 3 – The road continues north through mountainous, almost lunar landscape, crossing the Arctic Circle and into the Northwest Territories. Total day distance: 367km.
Day 4 – This day trip will be the most unique experience for our riders.
